We're building the next generation of security validation, and we're looking for people who want to build it with us.
Front End Developer
Remote-first
About Us:
At Persistent Security Industries, we build AI models that plan and execute attacks against real security controls and consult defenders about which defenses work and how to apply them! Our core platform, Nemesis, runs offensive techniques against real live infrastructure, evaluates the results, and adapts in real time.
We have a working product with a growing number of customers, join us to take a system that already ships and make it measurably better, then get it into customer environments: local, secure and observable.
The Shape of the Role:
We're looking for a Front End Developer to help build and scale the web application at the heart of our product. You'll work in a modern, strongly typed React codebase, shipping features that talk to a large gRPC-powered backend and turning complex data into clear, usable interfaces.
You don't need to know every tool in our stack on day one. If you have solid fundamentals in TypeScript and React and you're comfortable working in a collaborative, review-driven team, we'll help you learn the rest.
What you'll do:
-
Build and maintain user-facing features in a Next.js and React application written in strict-mode TypeScript.
-
Create responsive, accessible interfaces with Chakra UI, including custom theming and component overrides.
-
Develop data-rich views and grids using TanStack Table.
-
Connect the UI to our backend through gRPC-Web and generated Protobuf clients, which power more than 200 data hooks across the app.
-
Manage server state with TanStack Query and client state with Zustand, keeping data fresh, cached, and predictable.
-
Validate data and forms with Zod schemas.
-
Write and maintain end-to-end tests with Playwright to keep critical user flows reliable.
-
Take part in pull-request code reviews, giving and receiving thoughtful feedback.
-
Debug issues across the browser, network, and component layers.
Our tech stack
-
Languages: TypeScript (strict mode) and JavaScript, plus HTML and CSS
-
Framework and runtime: Next.js 16 with React 18, and Node.js 20.9+
-
UI: Chakra UI v2 and TanStack Table (@tanstack/react-table)
-
State and data: Zustand, TanStack Query v4, and Zod
-
API layer: gRPC-Web with generated Protobuf clients as our primary API, plus a secondary REST/OpenAPI client
-
Testing and quality: Playwright, ESLint, Prettier, and Husky pre-commit hooks
-
Tooling: Git, npm, and a PR-based review workflow
What you'll need from day one
-
Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, including strict mode
-
Solid React skills: hooks, component composition, and building forms
-
Experience working with Node.js
-
Hands-on experience with at least one component library, such as Chakra UI, MUI, or Ant Design
-
Comfort with Git and a pull-request-based code review workflow
-
Confident browser debugging using the console, network tab, and React DevTools
What you can learn on the job
We know no one arrives knowing everything. Experience with any of these is a bonus, but it's not required, and we'll support you as you get up to speed:
-
Next.js specifics such as routing and server-side rendering
-
Chakra UI's API
-
TanStack Query
-
Zustand
-
gRPC-Web and Protobuf-generated clients
-
Zod
-
Playwright
Why join us
-
Real impact: your work ships to users and shapes how they experience our product.
-
A modern, typed codebase: strict TypeScript, automated linting and formatting, and consistent patterns across the app.
-
Room to grow: we'd rather hire strong fundamentals and teach the specifics than wait for a perfect checklist match.
-
Collaborative culture: code review is where we share knowledge, not a gatekeeping exercise.
